John Duggan: Board of Director

John A. Duggan, is a third generation San Francisco restaurateur who was born and raised in the local industry. His grandfather founded Original Joe’s – the culinary landmark.  Currently, Duggan lives in San Francisco.  He earned a degree in Business Administration and a Masters in Sports & Fitness Management, both from the University of San Francisco.  He wrote his thesis on the transition between college to overseas professional athlete, and all the factors that go into your ability to succeed or not succeed.  Duggan believes the only resource right now for athletes are agents or other players.  He feels On Focus gives student athletes the sounding board for athletes to get advice of what could benefit them.

Though he spent his younger years immersed in basketball – John played for the University of San Francisco, where he was nominated student athlete of the year in 1996, before playing in Europe professionally.  During his junior year at University of San Francisco he led the team in scoring.  Duggan played 5 years, in over 25 countries throughout Europe.  He also won two national championships while playing professionally.

Duggan will divide his time between Original Joe’s and Fish & Farm, and is looking forward to working with his sister Elena and partner Klein in establishing a new restaurant in a neighborhood that feels like home. “Fish & Farm is going to be a creative outlet for us all,” says Duggan. “I’m really looking forward to working with such a talented group of people.”
