"As a professional athlete, playing outside of my home country, I can personally attest to the need for an organization such as OnFocus and am encouraged by the numerous benefits it could have on individuals such as myself.
Like most pro-athletes, I have dedicated the majority of my life to the game which has now become my profession. In doing so, I have reached a level in that craft that many can only dream of, yet it has required a lot of sacrifices that many are not forced to make.. The average high school and college graduate has worked numerous jobs, taken part in internships, learned valuable skills that are necessary for success in the corporate and professional world and have been able to make a gradual transition from life as an academic to life as a businessperson. The path which I have chosen, although quite fulfilling, has left me with little to no experience in all of these areas, and upon the end of my career as a professional athlete, the transition into the life as a working professional will be anything but gradual. In addition, each year I continue to play professional basketball is another year where I am sacrificing experience in the corporate world and setting myself behind a fresh batch of college graduates who are young and already possess certain knowledge and skills that will enable them to succeed in their respective field.
Thus it is imperative, in my opinion, that I learn necessary skills and learn them rather quickly either during or immediately following my professional career in order to have any chance at competing with my peers in the corporate world. An organization such as OnFocus can provide me, and others like me, with those skills. Professional athletes will at some point have to make a transition into the next phase of their lives which does not involve the sport that they have relied upon for their entire lives. I am happy to know that an organization such as OnFocus will be right there to fill the void."
