"Joe is a great communicator and has always been good around kids.  Many would even consider Joe to be a father figure to them.  In this day and age, it’s good to see men stepping up and helping out in the community no matter what country it’s in.  Joe has been heavily involved with Germany’s youth basketball program for years.  From coaching teams to basketball camps Joe’s done it all".

During our annual community event last October for Red Ribbon Week you came to our Middle/High School and spoke to hundreds of teens from the 7th to 12th grades including many of their parents and community members. I want to thank you again for inspiring our community to avoid negative choices with alcohol and other drugs. The fact that you were humorous and have a great heart for the kids was a greater bonus! I would recommend to other military communities to take advantage of your unique presentations in community awareness campaigns. Please keep up the good work!

Joe has definitely got to be one of the most respected people I have come to know in Europe. Every since I first met him at the TD1 street ball challenge he has been more than a good friend. I have been here in Germany for about eight yrs now and have seen Americans come and go not able to adjust to the European way of life but Joe is still here Teaching and Dunking like never before. I also coach basketball but it wasn’t until I met him that I started going in the schools and teaching. He is truly a motivator and behind that Hard Core, Mr. Grinch smile is a warmhearted individual.

Devoting his time to the youth and teaching them basketball & life skills has been something Joe Asberry enjoys very much and has been doing for a lot of years.

Joe has worked harder than any I know off the court in helping with the school programs.  Joe is a great role model for the kids.  I can truly say Joe is a great person and there are not many people today like Joe.

Joe has been able to establish himself as a basketball entertainer and youth social worker in Hamburg, Germany, one of the largest and most popular European metropolises.  Not only in Hamburg, but also in Munich, Berlin, Frankfurt, Hannover and other large German cities Joe has made his mark and in a positive way.

The more I got to know Joe the more I saw his love and obsession for this game. He is highly emotional in a positive way with a great sense of naked humor. It was lots of fun to be around him, to learn from him. I remember this season with nostalgia. It was the mix of everything, that's probably what made it so special. I know that he worked very hard to get where he is right now without betraying himself. I saw him this way in his everyday life anyway, so it was just the matter of time. Basketball promoting programs perfectly suits his personality; he absolutely got in where he fit in. I cannot be anything but happy for him because he is a live example of an ordinary person who truly believes in how and what he does.
